The optical telegraph line between Madrid and Cádiz comes into operation, although only the Madrid-Aranjuez section is being built, with 4 telegraph posts: Buen Retiro Palace, Los Angeles hermitage in Getafe, Espartinas hill in Valdemoro and Parnaso hill in Aranjuez.
